What do you think for recall

Hi guys, I was wondering what you guys think about using a flexi just for training a recall. Harley is great with everything, getting better on the stay. But his recall is for the pits.
I went out and bout a 26 ft flexi. Do you think this may help with the training. Right now he is very selective, If he is sniffing the ground, mom who is she attitude. Any suggestions?

Re: What do you think for recall

We have been using a 26 flexi for training recall. But it is better if someone can hold it behind the dog. If you hold it and walk away it will put a lot of pressure on your dog's collar. Is he well proofed on stays?

If he is stopping to sniff, you should probably start closer, not at 26 feet.

Re: What do you think for recall

he is very good outside with stays. I know for a fact that if someone if holding him, and I walk away, he definetly will come. No mom do not leave me behind. That has nothing to do with listening to me.
If I do not pull with the flexi, do you think it will be a good idea ?

If you let the line out and lock it so there is no tension on the line, I can't see that it's much different than any other long line.
