ongoing training

I've been noticing some behavior of Hilda's that needs attention. She is a very affectionate girl, and always has been a bit of a brat. smart, funny and clever, but a brat. When we were in class and training daily she was much better, but still a 'high maintainence' dog. she loves training, working or playing and gets a little nutty when that isn't happening. Because she is so loving and personable, we really let her get away with things she shouldn't. and instead of working with her more, she gets crated when she is a handful, and that's no good. Her hips are not hurting her much now, so it's back to work for her. (Poohbear's mom's description of her new princess got me thinking)

Boris on the other hand really had to have classes. He needed socialization badly, and has come a long way. because of the lack of training he came to us with, he gets away with nothing. as a result he is a much easier, happier dog.

so I suppose as a pre-new year's resolution, I am going to be here less and out with my dogs more.
