proud, and help me interpret this..

we have neighbors in back of us who have a rottie (of sorts) and whenever he is out, comes to the back of his property which joins the back corner of our property, both properties fenced. He barks at my dog or me, Both my dogs will bark back, Hilda gets quite worked up and I have to physically go get her. Boris will come when called, and has gotten to the point where when this dog starts barking he comes to the back door after a few barks back. this morning I was on poop patrol, and the back neighbor's dog starts his barking. to my surprise Boris came to me and just stayed by my side. He didn't bark or even go look over the wall. I was quite impressed, and he got lots of scratches and praise for sticking with me. Is he figuring out that 'aggression dosen't pay'?

I am alway pleasantly surprised by the way obedience classes and work spill over into a dog's daily behavior!!

Well, good for Boris! I guess he's figured out there is no impending or immediate "danger," and he's seeing this as "normal" or not out of the ordinary.

yes, but he used to run over and bark back. this morning he stuck close like he didn't want to get in trouble. but I've not corrected him for barking at this dog, just called him in.

He could tell you also heard the dog and was defering to the Alpha to do something. You didn't seem alarmed so he didn't feel the need to bark. Good doggie!!!! Training is great isn't it?

Boris has started the generalize the excellent obedience work you are doing with him to others areas of his life with you..the true mark of "it's working!" :o))))))
