Trainer needed in NJ.

Can anyone recommend a trainer/behaviorist in or around Bloomfield NJ or someone who is willing to come to Bloomfield NJ. . Must be experienced with working dogs and has knowledge of the Rottweiler breed and their temperament . She is looking for a private trainer to observe behavioral problems in the home. I don't know anyone in that area and was hoping someone here can recommend someone. She called my rescue for help but wants to keep her dog if possible.
Thanks

Cool Re: Trainer needed in NJ.

St. Huberts in Madison is where I went. Pia is a wonderful private trainer there. She helped us with Jazzy's aggression towards other dogs. I'm not sure if she goes to you though but she may be able to recommend someone who does.

Re: Trainer needed in NJ.

Hi PattiK.
Pia, is the person that another rescuer recommended to use. They say she is good and has knowledge of this breed which we all know is soooo important.
Actually It is not for my dog , it is for a woman who contacted my rescue for help with her 6 yr old male Rottie who started to become aggressive towards their other dog who is 4 and is the son of this Rottweiler. She would like to work with her dog on correcting the behaviour if possible bc she does not want to give him up and only would if he cannot be controlled around the other dog . With people he is good so a trainer who can work with dog aggression is EXACTLY what she needs. Thank you for the the tip. ;)

glad I could be of some help. Jazzy was a bit older when she went to Pia too. She still doesn't like other dogs but at least I can control her when she meets new dogs.

Re: Trainer needed in NJ.

My female got dog aggressive when she turned 2, not with the other dogs in the home but towards strange dogs. I socialized her so much when she was younger ,I guess she just came into maturity and that was the dog she was. she is 8 now and as strangely as the dog aggression appeared it also disappeared with age. Strange huh????

I'm glad to hear your Jazzy is much better around dogs. :) I is also so nice to hear success stories. ;)
I hope this woman who needs help has the same success with her rottie, except her dogs both live in the same home so I told her it may be manageable but to eliminate it completely may be hard if at all possible . :(

Re: Trainer needed in NJ.

So true. Jazzy's has mellowed with age too and never aggressive with our male at home or any other dogs she already knew (especially the boys...she's such a tease!).

Re: Trainer needed in NJ.

St. Huberts has a class just for dogs that are aggresive to other dogs and it is called Fiesty Fido.It is the one in Madison not Monroe.
