| Congrats on your new Rott. I would check in Nutrition and Grooming for feeding questions because there is a big debate on premium food vs the BARF diet, etc. The vet may make a recommendation. You didn't say if Rocco was a puppy or a rescue but trouble with the recall command "come" is not uncommon. It takes a lot of repetition to get it down.
I've read "Rottweilers for Dummies" which is a good starter book for the breed. It talks about training and care for rotts. But I would still recommend professional training if you can do it. It's worth the money if you haven't trained dogs much. If Rocco is just a puppy, he could benefit from a basic obedience course where he could be socialized with other dogs and people. Once he has his shots and the vet gives the o.k., he can meet other people and dogs and be socialized in other settings as well. We took Chloe through Basic Obedience. She enjoyed working with a trainer.
What are your goals for Rocco? Is he just a pet? Or do you want to show him? Just surfing this forum will give you a ton of ideas because we all seem to have the same problems with feeding, behavior and training. Just take a peek at what's in store for you! :D
