| My new trainer Hi everyone, I posted at the end of Aug about the puppy classes I had taken my 4 month old puppy to and how their methods were very harsh and he was sort of turning on me and trying to bite me after being jerked around and choked and such, and not listening. Well we started classes tonight with a new trainer, and it was awesome! I was so happy and can't wait to go back, and Kash was very happy there and was such a good little boy and did all the things he's known all along. He even paid attention the whole time and the classes were 1 1/2 hrs long, where at the other place they were only 1/2 hr and he couldn't stand that. He was such a differnt dog, you wouldn't believe the difference, no biting, ignoring me etc. I know now if we would of stayed with that type of training, he would of been ruined in no time. When he got Pee-oed at the previous trainers and would retaileate(Sp?) I made a comment on how he was getting mad and she responded with , no he is just a VERY dominant dog, which he is very far from. He one big lazy, sweet little boy, and he was assessed that by two differnt trainers, by the breeder, before he came to us. My new trainer, when I had mentioned that to her, told me how the old trainer went through 3 differnt GSD before she got the one she has now, as they all ended up turning on her. Her excuse though was that they were just to dominant for her to handle. And she calls herself a trainer. So that's the update, glad I came on and got the advice it did from everyone about needing to switch. I left there gleeful instead of mad and upset. Dinah |

| Glad to hear this trainer is working out better!!! Sounds like you are on your way to a happy relationship with your pup!! Keep up the good work, but be careful......class is habit forming

| Some dogs do not take force training very well.... His pain tolerance may be lower then a normal pup and this could have been part of the problem. IMO reward training is much easier on you and the dog and can be very effective as well.
