We've had Jake who is 7-9 mos for about 5 wks now. He had an accident or two the first two days but has appeared to be house trained since then. Being it's summer we are outdoors alot and I encourage and reward him for pooping both in the backyard and on leash walks. Last night I had a friend over and we had just finished spending about an hour playing with Jake. He walked into the next room and back again, which he often does when bored, and then stood right in the center of the living room and squatted in front of us

!! Before he could actually go, I jumped up yelling No, No, No and I grabbed his collar and pulled him outside - I startled him and he wouldn't poop right away...several minutes later he pooped (in the yard) and I praised and rewarded him. This morning I got up at 6am to let him out...he peed but did not poop. I went back to bed (so did he) and we got up at 8am. On my way to take him out, I stopped to go to the bathroom...while I was in there he relieved himself in the living room (most heartily, I may add)

. He did not have diarhea. Can he possibly not know that he is not supposed to poop there.....when as recently as last night I corrected him? What is this about? He recently had eye surgery and has been at the vet, had all the pre-op bloodwork done and came back as healthy. Any ideas or insights as to what is happening here?
I do obedience with him everyday and aside from an occassional challenge he is coming along well. He is not on meds, aside from eye drops and his diet has not changed.
