Not that I am at all qualified to do it, but I was talking with the editor of a little local magine (30,000 distribution) this morning because I had written a couple short peices on environmental building and she told me their next issue was on pets.
I asked if she had an issue on dog training. She said no, but that was because the magizine is focused on health and wellness.
I told her that lack of training puts a dogs very life in great peril to say nothing of its welness. Dogs are ethenized every day for soley behavioral reasons, and that does not talk about dogs who run out of front doors into streets, or eat something they shouldn't.
Well, I convinced her

and since the article is due Aug 15, she asked me to do it,

since she was unsure of finding someone else to do it in such a short time frame.
Since I had just made a passionate argument for the articles inclusion I could hardly say no...
So now I have to write the article. Advice, acedotes, or refrence materials would all be welcomed. I am particulary interested if any studies have been done on how many dogs are put to sleep because of behavior each year. And stories I could include would be great!
The article is short, 600 words or so, but I want the make a point. She also wants to get a picture of our Doc to go with it, so that is cool... Maybe over the A-frame?
Thanks for your help. (I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place)
