Wink

Just make sure the GF's backyard is secured!!

That must have been a horrible week for you, can't imagine losing a dog that way. Especially a little one like that.

Back to training:

So, how many weeks of training for $350??
I know you mentioned Petco and Petsmart, but I don't think this is where they were going to charge you $350, right?

I'd have to say if this is like an 8 week course or what have you, and it's that much money, I'd look elsewhere. (my personal opnion anyways)

The other side of this coin is that a Petco course may be good simply for the socialization aspect, and they are pretty cheap usually. Don't expect the most brilliant trainers, but at least you will get some time for your pup to be around people, and other dogs in a strange environment, which is a good thing..

Congrats on getting your pup back

Now make sure that you make an appointment to get her microchipped. That way - if she gets lost again, you can be sure she is permanently identified. They can take off her collar and call her their own - same doesn't apply to a microchip.

Also - never leave her unattended outside again. If she's outside, you're outside. If you need to go in, so does she.

As for training, look for local obedience clubs. They'll be enthusiastic, well versed and much more reasonable. Here in Canada (our dollar is lower than yours) an 8 week session can run around $150, or $75 if you're a member of the club.

I would not go to Petsmart - too many horror stories of unqualified people, reading a book or two and calling themselves trainers.
