| Training with 2 dogs in the house??? With having a pup and a senior dog in the house, it is hard to train one with out the other. Also, they get eachother worked up, and compete for the prized treats. What do others do here when you have a multiple dog house, and you need to train. BTW, it is about -10 deg c today, that is why there is a lack of training happening in our house right now. I could drive to a place to train in solitude, which is fine 1-2 times per week, but what I am refering to is the 30 min sessions that you need with a pup to re-inforce the sit and downs and such. Thanks for your advice in advance.

| Re: Training with 2 dogs in the house??? Put one in a crate, if you need to, cover it. As well, I wouldn't be doing 30min sessions with a pup, more like 2-3 for the very young (8wks) and 5-10 for older (3-4mos). The pup will learn a lot from watching the older dog work, and building that desire to work (via frustration) is not a bad thing.

| Re: Training with 2 dogs in the house??? When I had two young rotties in training, I would put one up in its cage and bring the other one outside (good weather) or to the cellar (bad weather) to train. If I didn't do this, the one not training would either try to get in the way or mimic the commands I was giving to the other one, which distracted the dog I was trying to train.

| Re: Training with 2 dogs in the house??? Yep, mine go into their crates when we are working in the house. One comes out for "the special attention" then the others get a turn, makes the ones in the crates wild to work when they come out and spend time the the old lady
