Need some advise please.

We adpoted a 4 1/2 month old female spayed lab mix, from the animal shelter. We took Axel(8 months) to visit her
before we took her. They seemed to get on okay together.
She's not potty trained or crate trained. We are begining both now. Of course not being crate trained, she is making all kinds of awful sounds down to including low grumbling growling sounds.
All this racket is making Axel very nervoius. Is this normal when you bring a new pup into the house?
PLEASE advise on how best to handle this. This is her first day here. We alternate taking them outside to potty. We are leaving Axel free roam of the house & her crated when we aren't with her. She is such a sweet natured dog. Just want to make sure i'm doing this right for the both of them. We plan on letting them spend supervised time together a little each day.
Also her crate is next to Axel's, i plan on moving hers to my bedroom at night. Should i move her's away from him during the day? Like when we are working...
Thanks in advance for the advise. :)

Well, i didn't get any response, so i winged it on my own. Both dogs are begining to play nice & getting to know each other.
They are crated side by side. My new little girl developed some vomiting & loose stools. I think it's nerves & stress of new home. We've going to the vet in the morning...in case someone might be interested...

Teena,

Of course we're interested! And you're doing fine. I usually send all my guys out to potty at once. When ever "somebody" decides they need to "go"- everybody decides they need to go....

With the crates, you might want to leave them where they can see each other. Just to reassure that they're not alone? I crate my puppy, but an older dog sleeps on the couch in the same room. The puppy fusses when she's entirely alone, but quiets down when the older dog is there.

Thanks Joanne :)
I have them crated side by side. They are playing nice & getting to know each other.
We withheld food from Rosie today. This evening i gave her some skinless cooked chicken breast & a slice of cheese (more of less of the cheese, Axel had to share it too, hehe). She held that down fine & no runny stools this evening. I have a free vet check from the shelter. So we're going to see the doc in the morning, just to make sure everything is fine.
I'm just a mother-hen-worry wart. hehe
I think we're doing fine now. :)

Teena,

she sounds so cute
. There was a black lab/rottie mix at one of the washington humane society's foster homes... for less than a day, actually.

my girlfriend and i tried to call up and learn more about "buddah buddy", but she was taken within the morning! If Rosie (?) is anywhere near as cute as BB was- you should be a pround mama!

We're in a similar boat.... my girlfriend and I just adopted "Lucy" from the DC shelter, a 4 1/2 month old spayed female Rottie- we're delighted.

So far, so good.... :D

see you around!

Things have taken a turn for the worse now. I left for work this morning & both dogs were fine, eating & drinking & playing. I get home Axel has vomited in his crate. I took them both outside to potty & axel vomits more & then has diarrhea. Rose seems fine.
So, i load Axel up & rush him to the vet's. They tested for worms, negative. Gave him 2 shots & some antibioties to take. He's being all droopy and acting sick. Not my hyper guy at all.
When we get back home, Rose is still acting perky, but i noticed her tummy is making rumbling noises & she won't eat anything. I offered her cheese & even scrambeled an egg for her, and she refused both.
I HATE it when my animals are sick & i'm worried. :(
I'm praying things will be better in the morning.

I would not worry too much if you went to the vet. They are just like people, sometimes they just get sick and don't fell well. :(

Teena,
did the vet check anything else since the new one has been the same way?
Good luck and you'll be in my thoughts tonight for good news tomorrow and better feeling babies!

After chatting with a friend online, i took them both to the emergency clinic. Rose tested postive for parvo. I left both there on IV's. I will go pick them up & take them to my vet in the morning.
Please pray for us! I'm so upset, my babies are sick. :(
This just didn't fit the classic parvo signs that i have read about. I will update as i know more.
