| Preparation for additional training? What would you recomend doing to prepare your dogs for additional training. Here are my thoughts, Raelin is now just over 1 year old, and is doing very well with her OB training. We will be doing grade 3 shortly, and after that I am not sure what to do. I am considering all options, such as flyball, agility, or any other sports, I will let her tell me what she likes the best. But I am also very seriously considering doing therapy work with her. I really enjoy doing things like that (I have been working with Habitat for Humanity for a while now), and I figured it would be a great way to work with her, and help bring awareness to the breed in a good way. I just want to make sure that I am laying down a good foundation for her to be able to do these kinds of things in the future. Thanks all

Re: Preparation for additional training? Is there some reason you wouldn't go on for a CD and CDX?

Re: Preparation for additional training? excuse my ignorance, but what exactly are cd and cdx? I have looked into Sch traning, and it would be a little more than I can handle. From what I understand Sch traning requires a lot of dedication and time, focused on specific training. It is not that I am not ready to do the work, I hate to sit arround watching TV.

Re: Preparation for additional training? Well, it is competition where titles are issued. CD is novice work, 1/2 on lead and 1/2 off lead. (that is what the prenovice class has you headed for). After you get the CD, the fun stuff with jumping and retrieving comes next.

Re: Preparation for additional training? Here is an explanation of the titles which stand for "companion dog" and "companion dog excellent". http://www.roseandearl.com/sharpei_CD.html

Re: Preparation for additional training? Found this web site that explains the titles, but not the details as to how to get them. FYI http://www.dogomania.com/titles.shtml I guess my next step is to find a club where we can practice and test for these titles. I will also check for events in my area for 2005 so that I can plan to attend. Thanks for your quick responses.
