Re: It really does pay to train your dog...

I realized that training is well worth it when I was walkin Sarge and we came across two female rotties one was 8 yrs old and the other I think 3 yrs old and totally out of control. Yet I told Sarge to sit and stay and held his leash firm and he stayed. Mind you he is only four months and he listened. This lady was having a heck of a time walkin her dogs and she asked how I trained sarge to do that. I laughed and said classes and treats. She asked how much the classes were and I told her and she goes out of my budget. She then complimented his coat and asked how I did that I go his food is most of it and I feed him Innova and that cost about 40 bucks for 30 pounds. She goes Oh I feed my Ol Roy from Walmart. I explained that is the worst thing she could do for this breed and said go to Rottweiler.net and you will learn so much from the ppl here.
And Sarge starts his new class in a few weeks and I wish it would come sooner.

Re: It really does pay to train your dog...

Oh man, I can hardly wait to have that feeling. After being not particularly moved one way or another by bikes, Hilda has made up her mind they are for chasing and lunging at. this, coupled with corrections, and nasty vocalization. I'm sad to say my neighbors aren't admiring her behavior. well, someday she will do better, I'm sure because of the inspiraton of the accomplishments of others......congratulations

I believe that with the help of our forum members we were able to teach Nikki this very important command. Here's the link if anyone is interested. Thanks to all for the idea about a 2nd collar - every time we're in a training session our instructors have instructed us to only use the one collar.

These quotes really hit home for me and helped me to realize the importance of the Down Command.

DOWN MEANS HIT THE DIRT RIGHT NOW WITHOUT HESITATION
Yes, and clap clap clap to you P&J. It's because you've worked diligently, your dogs complied. Thank you.
