| Clicker Training I am doing obedience training with Tie and we are having some problems keeping her attention at times. I have considered starting some clicker training but it's an area of training that I'm not too familiar with. Can you use it for obedience or is it mostly used with agility? I have talked to some people who live in my area and some people just turn up their noses at the mention of clicker training. Is this just one of those reactions toward new kinds of training as opposed to traditional methods? I understand the basics of clicker training and how it works and I have been reading some of the threads here to gain some more knowledge. Does this sound like a good idea or no? Lori |

| Re: Clicker Training We have talked ** ALOT ** abot clicker traininghere LOL :) I cannot cut/paste thread addresses from home but if you do a search in the training forum using the key word clicker you will get lots of them! Short answer is you can use the clicker to teach just about anything if you use it correctly.

| Re: Clicker Training I am starting tonight ob class with Vegas, and they use the clicker. I'll let you know what and how they use it. I heard it helps with response time in your dog.

| Re: Clicker Training I'm not sure if I'm totally gung ho about the clicker stuff. Its a little bit of a juggling act, the leash, the clicker, the treat or toy on hand. I don't seem to have enough hands! And it seems as if you always have to have a clicker handy to be consistent. I feel I am working backwards, we are introducing the clicker, for sit etc.. but he already knows basic commands on verbal. I did notice one thing for sure, his attention locks on me. I dunno. I'm giving this a go, it IS his first sessions of classes. If I don't like it, next time around I'll try something different. The key even with clicking is to use it to teach a command, as it pin points their actions. Even with all the very young puppies a few 8 and 9 week olds, I didn't notice my pup getting distracted from the other clicking. But we were all about 5-6 ' apart.
