Bark Busters vs obedience classes I have a 13wk male Rottie, "Diesel" and need to get the ball rolling for obedience training. We have been working on some simple commands like: Come, sit stay, and good leash manners. There is a saying "the student is only as good as the teacher", so the obedience training classes will be just as much for me as Diesel. The Bark Buster training program has caught my interest. Does anyone here have any experince with Bark Busters?? Looking for the pros and cons of in home training over going to classes. Thanks in advance :)

Re: Bark Busters vs obedience classes I can't say anything about Bark Busters. I can say that for the average dog, it is better to work them in a class environment around other dogs and people. There are benefits to private lessons but for a pup that young it would be better to get them out in the world and let them see it first hand.

Re: Bark Busters vs obedience classes We take Diesel and our Border Collie to a local dog park on average 4-5 days a week (weather permitting this time of year) and he gets socialization with a variety of dogs. He also gets quite a bit of socialization with people (adults and children), Rottie pups are hard to resist and Diesel is always the hit of dog park. Everyone has to come pet him and tell him how adorable and cute he is. Diesel just loves being around little kids. I have been reading a book called "training your Rottweiler" I got from PetSmart. The thing about Bark Busters I find appealing is it would fit my wifes and my work scedule much better. With the way my work schedule is I would need to arrange for time off every week to attend the classes. My boss said I will be highly unlikely they can grant me every day off I would need, some but not all. So at best traditional obedience classes would be a hit or miss thing week to week. With the Bark Buster I can do the training at home after work and avoid all the hassle of arranging time off, which would make things easier for me and also allow a more consistent training program for Diesel. I would still like to hear more thoughts or advise on the matter.
