| housebreaking my dog is 6.5 months old and still goes inside,ive tried all the old things that the guy said not to. by the way he is a inside only dog.he weighs 70 lbs.so what now.someone please help me.need help in tennessee. p.s my first rott. |

| teeram, please read Mick's article, it's a good one. The bottom line is that you get much better results through positive reinforcement in all areas of training, than you do with punishment, this is something you may want to take note of for your future work with this dog - punishment is nowhere near as effective as positive reinforcement (this is backed up by scientific studies as well as trainers). And for future reference, never "rub a dog's nose it it", it's unhygenic, inhumane and ineffective as a training method, it can cause severe pain and injury to the dog's nose and it tends to make dogs headshy and resentful of their owners, with good reason. Think of training as a fun, positive means of working toward cooperation with your dog's willing participation, not a conflict where you have to "win" or force the dog to comply. Good luck. |
