Last night we had our first private lesson with our new trainer. I am very excited, because this lady is super nice, and she knows what she's doing. She also is experienced with Rotties, and she is wonderful with Harley. He absolutely loves her!
We will probably be doing private classes for a while because our area isn't that heavily populated, so there aren't a lot of people looking for classes right now. She has several dogs of her own, so Harley still gets to meet new dogs. Last night he got to play with her 2 yr old Rott, then after class he got to play with a Malamute puppy who was there for a puppy class.
I was so proud of Harley. I've been working with him, but I just didn't know enough to get him to do some of the things I wanted him to do. Anyway, he did really well when she evaluated him to see where he was. He sits reliably, knows the down, stays for short periods of time and comes when called. She showed me how to teach him "leave it", and he caught on the third time she did it!
It was so much fun and very interesting to learn how to make his training fun for him. She is also showing me how to teach him hand signals along with the verbal commands.
I just had to share. This was a lot more fun than puppy class!:)
