talking during training...

6 mnth old Bella and I prob spend 5-10 mins training 2-3x a day (in addition to formal classes). For the most part it's going well. We have gotten to the point where she will, sit, down or stand (in any order) with voice command only (hey it's impressive to me but then again I am a real rookie). But recently, when I give a command I get what I am interpeting as back talk (whining briefly or a grumble no growling though). I am assuming it's because there is some momentary tension in that she knows she will get something good but wants it before delivering behavior. She still obeys with the same level of attention and promptness but 50% of the time there is some talking going on. I am not sure if I should continue as if this is not happening (which is what I am currently doing). Sometimes i think she is testing me with the talking...Is this something that will just pass as I continue to train and ignore the behavior? I am doing all the things recommended in terms of asserting myself as Alpha and she accepts these things without backtalk..

As always any feedback is appreciated!

I don't know what it means but I just wanted to let you know that Amber does something similar. When she throws herself into "down" she does so with a little "wuf" as she hits the ground. Almost like a "yeah, I'm good". She obeys promptly & only does this with down (and only when I use the hand signal for some reason).

I've wondered if this is backtalk too?

Nina

I know when mine does the backtalking during a training seccession is because I am not giving the treat to her fast enough in her eyes. I discovered this while learning sit stay. She sat and thought the act was over with sit, not that there was a second part called stay. As she got older and the training longer she doesn't woof me as much.

Odyssius loves to talk.

I have gotten used to the sounds, they are basically the excitement of knowing that he is about to get his ball(I dont treat train, we are watching our weight), but its the same basic reaction, as the tension mounts he even barks and wags as he does the down. because he knows its coming, and nothing is more fun that that old raggedy, chewed up, slobbered on, jolly ball.
