walking on a leash

When I take my Rott out on a walk he is fine until he sees people then he starts to whine and if i don't let him go over and see the people he starts to bark and growl. He now started barking and growling at the cars that go by. He is very friendly but when the people in my neighborhood see him barking they think he's mean cause he's a rott.He gets himself so wound up after he sees people or the cars I have to go home because he just does not want to to listen anymore. Any advice would be great thanks

I'm sure you will get lots of wonderful advice here :)

When my Athena gets overly excited to see people I tell her the leave it and correct her and continue walking. If she still tests me I will put her in a sit or will correct her and do tight circles to the right and left making her heel at my side and say watch me..stay with me. I talk to her alot. When I get those looks of oh my god a rottie I simply give orders to her a little louder smile and say she is a pup and in training we are working on it and thank them for their patience.

You might also think of working on the walking in the backyard and bringing in people as a distraction and continue having her there to work on heeling and behaving nicely.

My girl knows my friends house with her dogs and the minute we turn up the ally she is full steam pulling on me. It may take me 15 or 20 mins to get up to the house but I redirect every time :)
