| European Leads / Leashes feedback? We would like to know your experiences with the european style leads ( multi-hooks on the lead that allow you to shorten /drape loop over shoulder and keep hands free or adjusts out to a 6 ft lead).. we are interested in using it in a CGC test down the road .. are they allowed??? |

| I live in Europe and have used those leashes on boxers. They're not alowed in ringsport and I suppose it's the same for Sch. It's a great lead for short distance training...up to about 6 feet. And short too, but a little long for ringsport and such, where the lead/leash has to be 1 meter long, period. That leash is slso fun when you have 2 very well trained dogs.;)

| I have several and have used them for years, but they are not designed for training, rather for walking and then teathering the dog outside of shops or whatever. All that extra hardware and heavier leather simply gets in the way of using a leash in a training manner. Yes, you want the heavy leather (but not the hardware) for manwork, but not for obedience. I can see no purpose for it in a CGC test. CGC has no off leash work and there is no time when you would not have the lead in hand. If you buy from Europe, be careful of where you get the equipment. The ones I have from France had very poor leather quality and a very short life. The ones from Sweden or Germany have lasted 20 years of more. If you wish a lead to snap round your neck when you remove it from the dog while training for off lead work, simply put a split ring on the handle of a 4 foot lead and snap the hook to it. |
