| How do I teach this trick? I want to teach Anna to hold an object on her nose and then flip it up and catch it in her mouth. I am having no luck doing this. Has anyone taught there dog to do this? How did you start? She can "catch" a ball or treat. She has to catch otherwise she can't have it and I throw it again. I don't know if this will help or hurt the trick I want to teach though. Thanks

| I tried to teach that trick to my first doberman LOL. She would hold the treat on her nose and then when I said "ok", she would lower her head and drop it on the floor to eat it LOL. Not sure how you would teach them to flip it up in the air?

| I saw this on a show on the Animal Planet or read it somewhere, can't quite remember which. But, I do remember the jist of it. You have the dog sit, with 1 hand you hold the treat on top of the muzzle. With the other hand holding the underneath of the muzzle. While holding the treat you are saying stay. When you are ready, say Okay, letting go with the top hand and push up slightly with the bottom hand. With a little practice, it should work, but while learning, remember that the treat might just go flying off somewhere, so be prepared to duck!:)

| i taught Ollie to do this trick by putting a treat right on the end of his nose and then holding his lower jaw with my other hand. I tell him to stay then say"okay" while keeping me hand on his jaw so he can't drop his head they soon get the idea that inorder to get the treat they need to go up do down. Took lots of patience and tries but he nows does it all the time |

| I've totally given up on this trick. (What a quitter, I'm so embarrassed!) Mia desperately wants to eat the treat, so even though she'll obey a "Leave It" command when I hold it above her face, she keeps her head cocked so she can look at it. So there is no level surface to place the treat on! Oh well. |

| My feriend had a Lab that he trained to hold a biscuit on her nose while he said "Expensive, VERY Expensive". Once he said "PAID FOR!" she'd flip the treat in the air and catch it. NO CLUE how he trained her to do it, but it was a heck of a trick! Of course, she was a very well trained hunting dog and obeyed him to the letter without any hesitation, so I'm sure that had alot to do with it! None of my dogs would sit still to find out if something was 'Expensive' and not eat it! |
