Could I be gaining respect?

I'm the type that spoils the dog too much but from reading this boards and learning tips I have made some changes. Last night I was moving boxes to the garage (we just moved into a new home) when my Athena whom is about 5 months went into a bite the ankles and run then attack mode. I tried the redirection thing and told her to sit. Even in her extreme burst of energy she had she actually sat for me. She was a little jumpy but stayed in the sit. I then told her good sit and in a calm tone said settle till she calmed down then off we were she grabbed a toy and I finished moving. Do you think it is just a fluke? Did i do ok?
