| leash training for husband Hello everyone! How can I train my husband to remember to take the leash when he takes Daisy out for a ride? Today he made me so mad! He went to his sisters house and let Daisy out of the truck without her leash and she went after the neighbors poodle who was tied up in the front yard. She didn't come when he called her and he said he had to grab her by the neck -because her collar slipped off ( I was really working up some anger now) and put her back in the truck. I have her id collar on that she wears all the time that I don't use to walk her with because it isn't strong enough. I've told him so many times and we have ample leashes and stuff for him to grab on the way out the door. I am getting to the point where I don't trust him to take her out with him. He thinks that she should come whenever she is called-no matter what. Which I think is a long stretch because every situation is different. I'm letting out some air tonight or what? I guess I'm looking for some support of what it means to be a responsible rottweiler owner to show him. I always take the leash when I go out, she is always buckled in her seatbelt, I take water and treats, It's like taking a child, you've got to be prepared. What can I do to help him understand this before we do have real human children one day??? I think I need a cup of hot tea or a long bath. Whew! Thank you. You are all a wonderful bunch of people. michelle and Daisy. |

| Well I can only say...if you have ample leashes; put one in the truck and tell him that if he chooses not to use it; then it's HIS FAULT if something happens to the dog.....or a child...or someone elses dog....... It's a matter of responsiblity. Yes; the dog should come when called no matter what.....but YOURS obviously isn't trained enough so if HE wants her to do it.....tell him to grab a leash and hike to obedience classes.
