Training Works???????????

Whenever I catch (rare) my 3 year old stealing the cat's food, I give a very loud, sharp "NO" and then take her to her feeding area and show her, her bowl have her sit, explain the rules, and tell her she is a good girl.

Well the other morning I left to go to the gym, I was gone for 45 minutes, I also feed her when I return so she is rested from our morning run. I always put the cats food bowl on the counter when I go and she is usually a good girl.

When I got home I found this scene, she had taken not the cat's bowl, but the quart container I keep the cat's food in which was full, she took it to her bowl, neatly took the top off, and neatly removed the scoop and proceeded to eat a quart of dry cat food. She then went to the garbage can poked the swinging lid and neatly took out her toy which I thrown away (too much stuffing coming out). She was ofcourse fast asleep on her pillow when I returned. Tell me these rotties are'nt too smart.

I had to laugh at this scene! And yes rotties are this smart.

Dogs left unattented will eat cat food for sure. My experience is that dogs who eat cat food have BAD gas.

Try to put the cat food and the container somewhere where she can't get to it. Also, we have a garbage can that slides in and out of the cabinet so it is closed where the dogs can't get to it.
