She's doing her business in the house as soon as we get back from OUTSIDE Has she regressed??? My rottie is 13 weeks old. The past couple of weeks have been great. She almost always did #1 outside. The mornings we have been able to get her to do #2 outside and sometimes during the day. She would get praised and also get a liver treat as she was actually going. This past sunday, my husband took her and she did #2. She looked at him as if to say "hey where is my treat?" and he didn't have one on him. She hasn't done #2 outside since. Today, i had her outside for about 10 mins. She was sniffing around, eating dirt clods, much of the usual. I was telling her to go, etc. Finally, took her back in and no sooner, #1 and #2 in two spots? What happened with her? Any advice? It's so frustrating. I did yell at her for this? But, like i said, when she goes outside, she always gets praised a whole lot.

| Did you actually yell at her (i'm confused by your post because you have a question mark after "I did yell at her for this.") And what were you yelling at her for, if you did? I know that if I was outside yelling at my dogs, they would NEVER go. I take my dogs for walks every morning and sometimes Soapie doesn't go until the VERY tail end of the walk, the last minute. It's somewhat annoying, but I've never been able to train them to poop on command and so I have to be patient. However, my dogs all go on the walks EVENTUALLY. Your dog is still very young and I don't think she understands yet what she is supposed to do. If you keep her on a schedule and take her out religiously, crating or confining her when you aren't around to watch, she will catch on eventually.

Advice: You did not stay out long enough. You stay until she has eliminated and not according to the clock.

Also, I think it started with Soapie. She is my finicky dog, the one who will not go in the snow, etc. She would always wait for the walk to poop, and maybe the others just took after her? She is the dominant one of the group.

Lindak, I read your post and NICO came to mind! He was about the same age no matter HOW LONG we were outside he would go the second he came in. My trainer at the time told me it was his way of showing ME who was boss! At first I didn`t believe him. (he had his doctorate in animal behavior an physcology!)so why listen to him! ha... anyway Nico needed some crate training. Nico is now 6, he has NEVER had an accident in our home. That was my experience. I am sure you will get alot of good advice right here. I do!:) anyway good luck

It's getting better Update on Porsha. She has been doing her business (#2) outside in the morning and in fact, this morning 2X. My husband takes her out of her crate first thing in the morning (goes all nite w/o accidents). She does #1 outside and then it's dindin time when she comes in. She was taken outside about 15 mins. after she ate and she did #2 again. I didn't have a liver treat with me this time but as she was going, i praised and asked her if she wanted a cookie when we got back in. She raced me to the door. Every time she does this for me (going outside w/ #2) she gets a liver treat put in her mouth as she is in the "process". Association! I also have been noticing that she goes at around 11:30 and 2:30. I need to start spending more time with her outside at these times. (it's real, real cold here so it gets difficult to be outside for long periods of time). Is this normal for her to need to go so often. I thought it was just after eating. I'm a first time puppy owner. Thanks,.

You could use an exercise pen if you were able to see her at all times and bring her in when she's finished. I have a small dog who hates the cold and we do that for her. We have a tarp cover and we're well fenced. Your personal situation might prohibit this method or the trainers may say this is not good. Works for me and my Italian Greyhound. Bennie Sue
