New Female Rott (dog) Owner here and she is a........................................

HANDFULL! To say the least. She is already taking her stance and growling at the people passing by. 9 weeks old and she thinks that she can just run the place. My two older Male rotts are taken back by her because she doesn't hesitate to growl and bark when they have a toy that she wants. Is this normal? My Alpha male has surrendered a bone to her (we were shocked). I don't know if he just got sick of her barking at him and jumping on his back or if he is really submissive to her. People say that she should be easier to housebreak. She is more stubborn then both of the males put together. Any pointers on training this little bundle of joy?

We've always owned male dogs. We both thought that we could handle this female "NO PROBLEM". We made it through two stubborn males. What could be worse? A FEMALE! She has what we call a Jekel and Hide personality. She is so sweet to us then when the other dogs come around she turns into this monster. And I can't even begin to tell you what she has been putting our cat through! Help! Help! Help! SOS!

Ah yes, girls are made of sugar and spice - blah blah blah.

Yea right - girls will give you a run for your money. I have 3 girls at home, one is not a rottweiler. The non-rottweiler is very passive and very high spirited. My two female rottweilers are another story.

I got delila when Odin (my male) was 10 months old. From the day she walked in the door - SHE wore the pants. Very posessive she was, well, still is.

Onchu, my new puppy, is the same way. Somedays Odin won't even try to play with either of them.

They are wonderful though! I did find training females easier than my male, and I find they listen and obey better.

Good luck to you :)

Did you know that every 4.5 seconds a cat or dog in america is "put to sleep"?

I'm telling you she is crazy! This is a whole new experience for me and Ryan. We both love her to death, but we are just not use to this female dog thing. We are getting use to it though, really fast! Any pointers on how to address her domintating behavior would be very much appreciated. She starts puppy school in two weeks, what to do until then is the question. I'm sure that the other two dogs amplifies the behavior, but we never dreamed it would be like this. We actully feel bad for the boys!

Here is one thing that I do with onchu (4.5 month old female).

If all the dogs are laying on the floor together chewing bones, Onchu has a tendency to walk over and take Laika or Odin's bone right out of their mouths. She will not do this to Delila, because delila tells her no :)

SO, when it's bone time - I will position myself on the floor between Onchu and the two she likes to steal from. Each time she gets up to go rob someone I grab the bone that she had and I tell her to sit (which she knows) and then to lie down (which she also knows). She will listen, and after a while I can get up and see will stay laying down with her bone.

In normal situations though - I will allow her to take things from the other dogs, as long as there is no growling and/or biting. If she decides to have a hissy fit because she cannot get what she wants and starts to growl/snap at the others - she wins herself some time out time in her crate. She is not allowed to whine in her crate.

She is just a strong willed girl, Odin and Laika are very passive. It is only natural to me that she is ranked above them. Delila was the same when we first brought her home last november, and she remains top dog - at least for now.

Best advice, do not let her out bitch you, YOU are alpha bitch.

Have fun :)

This thread has really brought a smile to my face. My girls were alot easier to train and still are. They only problem I have with them is they are too smart. And they work together ;) My boys were a little more dense when it came to training. They tore more things up than the girls. When they got the zooms they usually had something in their mouth they weren't supposed to. Maybe its just the individual dogs but my girls run the show here. Zeus and Beau defineatly know they're role.:)

Yeah, If anyone should have that title in the house it should be me. Alpha Bitch, I like it! Now I just have to convince her:) She had a break through last night. She stood by the door and whined to go out.

Now if we can just stop her from dragging all of the toys to her crate and laying on them we will be doing pretty good. She is so funny with her little growl and stance. Not so funny that she tried that with me last night. She got a FIRM NO and is starting to understand the meaning of BE NICE! You know you can't stay mad at them for more then 5 minutes. As soon as she looked up at me with that tilted head I picked her up and gave her a ton of kisses. This one needs obediance immediatly.
