Training methods \Mass vs. stamina Can some of the senior membors share with me there training regimens. I have a very energetic 1 yr old 95lb male. I curretnly run sprints with him 3 times a week nothing too hard though. Any ideas would be helpful, but I am particularly interested in peoples Mass exercises vs there stamina movements..

I condition my dog, Athos, by throwing his toy (Ball on a rope) and having him sprint to get it. I also take him tracking, and do scent work, as that is very exhaustive work. Athos is 4 yrs old, and weighs 100 lbs.

I don't know what you are asking? Running for a ball is a great way to strengthen a Rottie. Do you want to build muscle mass such as a human weight lifter? Dogs will not completely isolate and exhuast a muscle as humans will. Running and swimming are the best ways to condition a dog. The best way to get a Rottie with massive muscles find Sires and Dams that carry this trait. [This message has been edited by Orville Story (edited July 25, 2000).]

I want a working dog, not necessarily a massive brute. When is forced exercise (ie) road work an option? Does anyone have a regimine that they follow??
