Rottweiler Rescue Congratulations! You've decided to adopt a Rottweiler! Talk to fellow adopters, rescue groups and those who offer guidance and support. What does a rescue group do? How is a dog prepared for placement? Is this dog a good match for me?

Rottweiler rescue in South Jersey area?

Anyone know of a Rott rescue that handles the South Jersey area? Thinking about adopting and I can't find one in my area. There are not any rotties in my local shelters at this time and are far and few between when there is. But that is a good thing.

One thing that might help you find a rescue is to go to Petfinder and search for a Rottweiler near your zip code. When I do that I see a lot of groups and shelters I normally wouldn't know about, some near and some far.

Thanks I have tried that and have found some in Northern Jersey was trying to find something alittle closer to home as I currently have a 10 year old male that I would want to make visits with the possible adoption dog prior to adoption.

Re: Rottweiler rescue in South Jersey area?

Thank you for thinking about rescue.

My group only operates in the northern part of NJ, but here're two rescue groups from our site who might be better positioned to help you. If they can't, perhaps they can refer you.

Good luck!

Rottweiler rescue in South Jersey is in very short supply. Most are taken in by all breed rescues. If you are in South West Jersey, I would suggest checking out Maryland also. I know Majesty does NJ sometimes.

Re: Rottweiler rescue in South Jersey area?

I will check the links that have been supplied again as I have checked them in the past but there usually isn't anything close to my area. And having my older male I was hoping to find something close to me that we could do a couple of visits if needed with the adoptive dog prior to bringing her home. I will keep looking if its meant to be it will happen, its just that my sweet boy has seemed so lonely since losing my 9yo to osteosarcoma back in December 2006, it has taken me this long to open up to the possibility of bringing another rottie home to share our lives. You know the old saying once bitten twice shy. Osteosarcoma is one horrible disease and I wish no one ever had to go through it.

Not sure how close this is to you, but the Burlington shelter frequently has rottweilers. The Burlington County Animal Alliance is a rescue associated with the shelter that might have something or might be able to assist with more information if you saw a dog listed at the shelter.

I want to thank everyone for their replies but I at this time I need to put my search on hold as my dear Rock (10yo male) was just diagnosed with cancer. Once again thank you and please say a prayer for my boy.

Re: Rottweiler rescue in South Jersey area?

I am so sorry for you and Rock. I will keep you in my thoughts. My dear Cromwell died of a brain tumor in Feb, 2004. It is so very hard to deal with this. My prayers are with you. When the time should come, please contact Terry at Majesty Rottweiler Rescue. She is so kind and careing - she brought me Winston after I lost my Cromwell. He comforted me and made the unbearable bearable. God with with you and Rock as you face this monster cancer.
