Wink Re: 7 Year old cancer patient mauled by Rottweiler!

aww the video is lovely to see.

i must say to people that have commented on the boy banging his head, obviously he was fine, he wasnt crying, he didnt look distressed, he was clearly just pleased to be stroking the rottie and getting lots of kisses from it

Thanks Roscoe, that made my day. You should have advised a tissue warning.

That was just lovely to see, thanks for sharing it.

They both looked so happy together, esp when Chopper was giving Trent kisses :smiles:

Re: 7 Year old cancer patient mauled by Rottweiler!

Just my opinion: I would be ticked if Arthur acted that way around a child. That dog put his paw on the boy's shoulder while the dog was on the chair. He pushed the boy over (yes, yes, "rough" play). He also jumped up a bit on the boy while the boy was in a chair.
Absolutely wonderful to have service dogs like these...but I don't think this dog is "done" yet. The owner had to pull on the leash to get the dog down when he jumped up a bit on the boy while the boy was in the chair.
I know I'll get blasted (haha), but just because the video showed rotties in a positive light, doesn't mean that THIS rottie was being completely well-behaved....especially as a service dog.

I'm surprised to hear people remark about the way that the boy and the dog treated each other. My guess is that the people that make these comments don't have young children.

I don't see anything wrong with the interaction. These two know each other and have an established relationship. The boy is welcoming the dogs behavior and vice versa.

I actually have THREE young children: 8, 5 and 1.5.
I just would expect a higher standard of behaviour from a service dog!
I never said, nor meant, that there was anything aggressive in the dog's behaviour, just some behaviours that I found impolite.
Again, in my opinion. :)

Re: 7 Year old cancer patient mauled by Rottweiler!

The boy was pulling on the dogs face and rubbing him quite rough. The two do have an established relationship, the dog knows how the boy likes to play. I'm going to give the dog the benefit of the doubt and realize that he may play differently with other people. My rott knows how to play tug differently between myself and my 3 year old.

I'm guessing that he is probably more polite with others.

Re: 7 Year old cancer patient mauled by Rottweiler!

This is a wonderful video. Thanks for posting it Rosco.

I didn't think that "The Chopper" intentionally knocked over the boy. To me it looked like an accident and it didn't bother Trenton too much at all.

And I got a kick out of seeing Trenton rubbing Chopper's jowls...exactly like I do and always have done. Trenton is an Alpha Male for sure and knows exactly what dogs like.

I pray that Trenton does well. I am hopeful that he will because he has a big heart.

Peace.
