Rottweiler Helps Police Nab Suspect....

Yay, another point for the Rottweiler!! What a smart pet!!

Rottweiler Helps Police Nab Suspected Pimp After Alleged Abduction Attempt
Sunday July 15, 2007
CityNews.ca Staff
On Saturday night, five-year-old rottweiler Romeo was hardly one man's best friend, though he sure helped out police as they chased a suspect through an east end neighbourhood.

It all began when a young woman was seen trying to get out of a moving car.

"There were some citizens that observed her in the car trying to get out and her feet were hanging out of an open door and they called us immediately," said Toronto Police Det. Allan Thomson.

Police got to the 20-year-old woman, but her alleged captor led officers on a chase for several blocks from Dundas and Carlaw down side streets to Eastern and Leslie. When they eventually cornered the vehicle, two police cruisers were allegedly rammed by the suspect, who then took off on foot and ran into a stranger's home.

He picked the wrong one.

"He just opened the door and walked in and my rottweiler grabbed him," recalled witness John Tait.

The suspect, 46-year-old Richard Nicholos, faces more than 20 charges including forcible confinement, five counts of sexual assault and six of assault with a weapon.

Meanwhile, Saturday's arrest marked the end of an almost week-long ordeal for the alleged victim, a horror story that began a province away in Quebec.

"She came to Toronto initially of her own volition," Det. Thomson said. "Then she started to fear for safety a bit and at that point I would say she was being held against her will."

Police say the woman was being forced into prostitution and that both she and her family were threatened. The suspect is known to police and remained in custody Sunday after a brief court appearance earlier in the day.

Ya this is bigger than it first appeared on Saturday nite news. A while back, I watched a documentary on sex trades, and one part of it depicts Toronto as a growing problem where they lure foreigners as strippers, take their passports from them, then start pimpin them. Crazy stuff.

It certainly is, in fact many of them are lured here with promise of waitressing or hotel maid jobs - nothin NEAR prostitution!!!!

What a good boy! Fortunate that it had a good ending. I'm curious what spin the media would've taken if Romeo had inflicted any damage. Would he have still been a hero?

Geesh...I hope they don't try to give the homeowner, or his beloved Rotty any grief about the incident.
Good boy Romeo!

Another article said he grabbed the guy by the arm, so I assume there was some damage.
