Thumbs down Abused Rottweiler Puppy reward offered, Lawrence, KS

Reward offered for puppy abuse information

LAWRENCE - The Humane Society of the United States is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for injuring a Rottweiler puppy in Winfield in February.

The Winfield Police Department is investigating the case of an abandoned male Rottweiler puppy found in the 200 block of E. Ninth on Feb.8. The dog was found with a large laceration and injuries consistent with burns. A veterinarian examining the dog believes the injuries were two to three days old. The puppy survived and has been adopted.

The connection between animal cruelty and human violence is well documented. The HSUS First Strike Campaign raises public awareness and educates communities about this connection while providing a variety of resources to law enforcement agencies, social work professionals, educators, legislators and families. The HSUS offers rewards in animal cruelty cases across the country and works to strengthen laws against animal cruelty. Visit First Strike: The Connection Between Animal Cruelty and Human Violence | The Humane Society of the United States for more information on the program.

The Winfield Police Department is investigating this case. Contact animal control officer Phillip Lynch or Sgt. Chad Gordon at 221-5555.

You really have to be sick to do anything like that to an animal. An animal especially as small as a puppy has no chance of defending itself.

I am sickened also every time I read an abuse story. Unless or until the legislators and law enforcement agencies start to take these kinds of abuses more seriously, I'm afraid more animals and humans will suffer at the hands of monsters like this.

It sickens me too....and it is a little scary! If someone is twisted enough to do something like this to a defenseless puppy....will they graduate to people next?

OMG that is disgusting. If I ever get my hands on the person(s) who did this...

I am a big doberman lover too and I just recently read that a man turned his 7 month dobe in because his hands hurt too much from hitting him! and he only got 45 DAYS in prison! Some people are just S-I-C-K!

poor baby...but i am happy to hear he is better and in better hands...God bless the pup and the pppl who are so couragoeus to take him or her in and give hin or her the love they SO deserve

God bless them.....

These people...if one can call them humans... should be put behind bars forever. I'm really shocked and disgusted.

I am shocked at this - how could someone do something like this and sleep at night?
