What a GOOD Girl!

Not sure if this belongs in a different place, but I just had to share a message I received from Lisa Medina. She has Kindra, who, if you remember, I wrote about with her therapy experience with a very elderly gentleman a few months ago.

I wanted to share a couple of photos that Lisa sent to me this week with the following note:

"These photos were at an elementary school where we do reading assistance with Kindra. We are there once a week and the children come and sit with us one at a time to read to her (Kindra) during a half hour period. This is a first grade class. We visit schools throughout the San Bernardino City Unified School District here in Calif. We teach children how to be safe around dogs they do not know, the importance of caring for our animals and above all, to be kind and compassionate not only to animals but to one another. Visits range from one to three times a week. This also includes the hospital we visit once a month. At the young age of only 17 months, Kindra has touched many hearts and brought much needed laughter to those around her. The future holds many more special memories because of this very special girl."
Lisa and Kindra

I cannot express enough the joy that her last sentence brings to me. Kindra's real name is Von Marc’s Hakuna Matata and she was named by the children in the schools she visits! I am so proud of Lisa for how she is allowing Kindra to be such a great representative of our breed. It makes me, as Kindra's breeder, so very proud. Thanks for letting me brag on her......

Thanks for sharing those pictures, Sharon! I really like the first one where Kindra looks like she is craning her neck so that she could keep her face in the camera shot!
Good stuff!

Re: What a GOOD Girl!

What a good girl....and a great owner to spend the time and training and give her back to the community to see a WONDERFUL ROTTWEILER at work! My hope is someday through all the efforts of breeders and responsible owners there will be more gleaming examples of what a Rottweiler CAN be! Thanks for all the dedication to this wonderful breed....strong...loyal...intelligent...and most of all the greatest canine companion on four legs! Tina

Re: What a GOOD Girl!

Sharon, she is beautiful! You should be very proud. That sounds like such an awesome way to prevent so many sad situations from happening. I hope that will inspire other programs! Just think--each one of those children can also educate their friends as well!

What a great way to represent Rottweilers everywhere as well!

Re: What a GOOD Girl!

As a teacher I understand the importance to educate children about dogs. I also LOVE the reading assistance program. It increases the child's confidence level tremendously because dogs don't judge. Way to go Kindra!

Re: What a GOOD Girl!

Kindra is doing such a valuable thing, not just as an ambassador for the breed, but in helping these children learn to read, and learn how to interact with a dog. You have every right to be proud as a peacock, Sharon!!!!! Someday, I hope to do this with my next Rott. Kindra gives me inspiriation, too.

Re: What a GOOD Girl!

You have ever right to be so proud of Kindra. I love the first pic, it's almost as if she's saying don't block my pretty face "cheese". I hope to one day own a rottie just like Kinda.
