Rottweilers can be dangerous dogs
Editor, the Record:

Before you all cry about "the poor rottweiller that was shot by the horrible hunters," let's look at some facts. Rotties are No. 2 on the list of the most dangerous breed of dog. They are second only to pit bulls in the number of attacks on people. The harmless family pet — "Oh, he won't bite you" — is not that harmless.

Over 4 million people are attacked each year including 1.2 million children. Rottweillers and pit bulls get credit for 50 percent of all fatal dog attacks. State and local law require you to control your animals at all times.

In my opinion people who own dangerous animals and allow them to roam free should be heavily fined.

My hat is off to these hunters who have removed the threat that this dog posed in that neighborhood.
