Re: Rottweiler shot by trespassing hunters

pretty sad..I think they need to be shot three times (atleast once in the nugget) so they know what that dog went through.

Re: Rottweiler shot by trespassing hunters

What stops someone from shooting those hunters, and calling it "self-defense"? They trespassed onto private property, with guns, that I'm sure you'll find empty casings for since they were shooting them off on the property.

How is that any different from someone walking into your home with loaded guns?

I can't answer for another state, but last fall I found out in VA you can't point a gun at someone just trespassing on your property. Even an unloaded one. My mom was asking a sheriff's deputy what could and couldn't be done to catch some teenagers harassing my neighborhood. The laws sometimes are so backwards IMO...

Re: Rottweiler shot by trespassing hunters

That is so sad! I live in northern WI which has a very popular deer season, and we have a lot of trouble with trespassers. How sad is that to know that your dog isn't even safe on your own property! I always worried about my horses during deer season, and kept them close to the buildings for the 9 day season. So scary, especially when you realize some people just want to kill something, and don't care what.

Re: Rottweiler shot by trespassing hunters

It is scary enough being in the proximity of decent hunters. I can't imagine having to contend with murderers.

My son lost his best friend on christmas day years ago when a bullet intended for a deer went through his truck into his heart. The hunter (a retired cop) didn't even know the bullet had struck Brian until the investigation.

Bullets travel and I constantly fear some idiot hunting the woods beside our house will send his bullet into us. We DO NOT give permission for hunting on our property but if we did I would make certain the hunters were aware of the location of the houses around here.

I still can't figure why it's legal to hunt in any area where there is any remote possibility the bullet fired could reach another property.
Talk about irresponsible.

Re: Rottweiler shot by trespassing hunters

I feel so sorry for those innocent dogs. I would be waiting for these unscrupulous individuals (they are not even people in my book)! I wonder how they would feel to have someone shooting back!! After all they are shooting towards someones home. Everyone would be talking about where NOT to hunt! To me these are the kind of individuals that gives hunters a bad name. Anyone that is capable of this kind of cruelty to animals are capable of a lot more...

Spoiled, I would love to send your uncle a big bottle of Jack Daniels and yes I would by the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Since when is it okay that you can shoot and get away? The bullets could have hit a child/adult what a troubled world we live in. Its a darn shame. Here in IL, you get the cost of the property (dog) that you paid for it. It's something not enough but that's life.
