Re: 14 month old boy attacked by rottweiler(uk)

i really cnt believe this is happening!

really dont know what the government will do now about this?

did anyone see dog borstal last night, there was a white gsd who constantly barked aggresively to visitors, and when the workers at the training school put a demonstration on about prtection dogs the owner of the white gsd was boasting how his dog could do this,

i think people like this are what we need to rule out of owning big dogs, they gget them more as a status symbol than and loving family pet, and it really has offended me lately going out with max and people just being wary of him children pointing and looking, people just looking at you in passing cars,

max is always so friendly to people when i take him out now i think he feels it as no one wants to stroke him,

its almost got to the point the next person who points or stares whilst im walking will be in for the grilling of there life by me!

ive also found this is the case with Ace,hes such a loving dog.he wants to greet everyone he walks past,he loves a good stroke.

now people quicken their step when they pass us,some people look in disgust.
i just couldnt believe it when i herd this, this morning.

all week ive been trying to stick up for rotties on other forums against stupid people that did nothing but hurl abuse back at me.

one person said all rotties should be killed!
ha said that once they all get to a certain age their brains get to big for their skulls and this is what happens.and every one else on the forum just believed everything he was saying and agreeing with him.he even said that my"devout rottweiler"(as he put it)would attack me and id deserve it cos im sticking up for them.

and now another attack!its just proving to these people that their stupid oppinions are right.when in fact they couldn't be more from the truth.

they are going to go to town with this now,its going to go on alot longer than i first thought.

Re: 14 month old boy attacked by rottweiler(uk)

I doubt it would have even made it to the news if it wasnt for the first attack having a baby who died involved. Kids get attacked every day by dogs, it just doesnt allways make the news. Im seeing so many storys this week that make we wonder what people are thinking when they have kids in there care. We all know what happened wih the baby that died, another headline that day was of a 6 yr old kid getting trapped under thewheels of a van by a busy main road, my mum allways had a tight grip of my hand by any road. Then theres the latest attack by a rottweiler. The dog was tied up in the front garden and somehow a two year old kid found his way to him. I dont know if he slipped out or if the grandparent took the kid to the dog.

Animals are born with instincts and know what to do with there newborns with out any help from anyone, humans seem to be born thick and pass this down to every generation. Everyday we read about kids getting run over, stabbed, drowning, electricuted....... but a group of idiots creating a situation where children get attcked by dogs and theres hell to pay. I stil say we should ban people from having kids until they can prove they have the brain cells to look after them.

Re: 14 month old boy attacked by rottweiler(uk)

ive just sent this to the sun again, have i gone ott??

' when will you people realise that theseattacks occur every day and its not just the dogs fault but irresponsible ownership or parenting,

i own a lovely natured rott and ever since you have deemed them as devil dogs i have recieved a hurl of abuse,

i bet in the uk more people get biten/attacked by jack russells than rottweilers each year,
but you seagulls, who skavange for stories about rotts which encourage more people in the uk to boost there narrow mindness that all rottweilers are dangerous, and there not!'

Re: 14 month old boy attacked by rottweiler(uk)

why dont people see that a dog dosent automaticly respect a child.in a pack of dogs you dont see pups higher up in the pack than grown dogs, pack dogs fight for their places.
and these people should be teaching their kids to respect these powerful animals.they cant just let their children pull, tug and jump all over them and not expect the dog not to turn on them.im fed up of reading stories of people saying their dog bit their child, then reading how the child was jumping on its back or pulling its tail/ears.

Re: 14 month old boy attacked by rottweiler(uk)

the fact is,boarder collies bight more people than rotties, its just that a rotty is gonna do a hell of alot more damage than a colly, simply because of their size and strength.so that means these people want rotties band because their a large dog!its like saying people are not allowed to drive 4x4's because they have the potential to do more damage if they ran someone over.

There are people this side of the pond that actually want to do this.

All of you are right on, just make sure you take advantage of any opportunity to show people what a rotts true nature is.

Re: 14 month old boy attacked by rottweiler(uk)

yea i was gutted when i heard this today. I dont know the whole story, but the dog was chained up and unattended in the front garden. Another case of irresponsible ownership.
Poor kid.
I say the compulsory dog training would be a very good idea, probably one of the first good ideas the government have come up with regarding dog law.

Re: 14 month old boy attacked by rottweiler(uk)

The statement made abiut border collies, a border collie can attack a child and kill them, same as a lab, golden, or any mixed breed, Yes rottweilers and pit bulls get more media attention because of the breed itself, My sons friends just got bit by a lab both on the ankle which required stitches, my neighbors Golden(as many of you know) is meaner then any rottweilers or pitbulls I have seen and if were to ever bite my kids he would do serious damage

yes i know border collies can kill as can the majority of breeds,i was saying that different types of dogs bight kids and people everyday, and as soon as its a rottweiler it hits the head lines(think you misunderstood what i meant.sorry)

Re: 14 month old boy attacked by rottweiler(uk)

Have there been any recent studies lately?
I remember a kid doing a project on this and it was very convincing. Maybe a couple of graphs and real life stories will help people understand.

Just like they're bringing rott and pit attacks to the frontline do the same with all dog bites. It's like when they hear about a lab or collie attacking they feel its an isolated incident and push it to the back of their head but when they hear rott or pit it sticks for good.
