| Charging rottweiler has neighbors barking (Minooka, IL) The owner of this particular dog has been given citations SEVEN times! Seven times! Do you think she gives a damn about the dog or the citations? This is the kind of owner that helps stoke the fires of fear and breath life into more BSL. Charging rottweiler has neighbors barking Charging rottweiler has neighbors barking Briscoe vows Animal Control, village will work to resolve issue By Peter Krowiak Herald Writer MINOOKA - Certain residents in the Misty Creek subdivision have their hair standing on end. About ten residents came to Minooka's village board meeting to howl out their concern about a loose rottweiler that has been charging the subdivision's residents. "We're just really concerned," resident Megan Duarte said. "Someone could get hurt." Duarte herself has been charged by the dog and had to run into her house to escape it. She counted herself lucky in that she was right by her front door. Though there's no guarantee that the dog would have done anything, there is the fear that a charge could turn into a bite. The concern is elevated with the new Aux Sable Elementary School in the subdivision. "I've been around dogs all of my life," Duarte said, "and I don't think it wanted to play." Police Chief Lloyd Unland said the owners of the dog have been cited for the dog being loose seven times since July of 2000. He also said that a representative from Animal Control would be out on Wednesday to determine the status of the dog. The dog can be deemed as not dangerous, dangerous or vicious. "Tomorrow we're going to have some answers, or shortly thereafter," Village President Jason Briscoe said. Briscoe said that he shared the resident's concerns and said that if Animal Control did not do something, the village might through its nuisance ordinance, though that would take time. Village officials may even consider creating an ordinance that would deal specifically with this type of situation. "I think that would be the course of action," Briscoe said of pursuing the matter through the nuisance ordinance. Board member Dennis Martin wondered why they couldn't just take the dog and not give it back. "Why can't we just make it go away," Martin asked dryly. Duarte said that attempts to solve the situation with the owner, who Duarte said was a woman named Sharon Behnke, have not been successful. "It's just an ongoing problem," Duarte said. The owner could not be reached for comment.

| Re: Charging rottweiler has neighbors barking (Minooka, IL) Well, if it isn't, it should be. Maybe that's the only thing that would get THIS owner's attention. I just feel sorry for the dog. We both know that it will eventually pay with it's life; either being hit by a car or PTS
