A gorgeous. massive Rottweiler died lastnight in a fire, he was a guard dog for a building company, i thought that they kept the rotty in the yard, but it turned out that they locked the dog in the building every night, the fire broke out lastnight, the firemen wouldn't go on, as they said that they wouldn't risk their lives for a dog, i couldn't believe it, once the fire had stopped they found the rottys remains by the back door. Absolutely gutted it was a gorgeous dog and didn't deserve to die in the way that it did. They shouldn't lock any dog in a building like that. The poor thing, i was absolutely tamping when i heard. How could they !!!!!!!

Re: Gorgeous Rottweiler dies in Fire!!!! that's heartbreaking ... how horrible ... my husband just called me and he was out on a job (he's a lineman) and there was a male rottweiler, about 18 months, chained in a garden of a house he was working on. he went up to it and the dog was totally submissive to him. he petted him and they hit it off. the owner of the house came out, and said to my husband, "i can't go near that dog ... that dog won't let me near him ..."

| Re: Gorgeous Rottweiler dies in Fire!!!! I'd have a hard time not asking if they WANT that dog. That is so sad about the dog being locked in the building. I would have thought that the firemen would at least have been willing to open the doors... it might have been too late, but the attempt would have been nice.

Re: Gorgeous Rottweiler dies in Fire!!!! i had the misfortune to watch oprah yesterday and there was a tale of a fireman giving mouth-to-mouth to a pup after pulling it from a burning building. how cool! as for the dog on the chain, why on earth would you even own one if you were a) going to chain it and b) were scared to death of it.

Re: Gorgeous Rottweiler dies in Fire!!!! That really angers me. I have stickers posted on my windows that say in case of emergency rescue us! It is sapose to let the fire people and police know that I have animals in the house. My sticker specifies that Arwen is crated and in which room, the living room sticker has "Northwest front corner room" and the bedroom says "IN HERE!!". It's sad to think they would know right where she was and let her die because "she's just a dog". I did specify that she is "obedience trained" on the sticker, but I did not put what breed.

Re: Gorgeous Rottweiler dies in Fire!!!! I watched a video on TV a while back that showed an apartment building on fire...one family's dog was standing inside the sliding glass doors off the balcony trying to get out. The firemen did NOTHING as the dog barked frantically at the sliding glass doors. The father of the family that rented that apartment finally vaulted up onto the 2nd floor balcony, opened the sliders, grabbed the dog and jumped down. HE WAS ARRESTED on the spot..don't remember charge but something to do with interfering with emergency personel!! He had to hire an attorney to fight the charge. I have even heard of police shooting dogs that were loose in yards so that firemen can enter the yard to fight a fire. I would like to think that, in the event of a fire, firemen would try to save my pets but realistically, I don't think they would.
