I sat with her last November (2004) at the Thanksgiving Cluster outside the breed ring. We chatted and got caught up on things. The dogs she was showing all looked fine at that point.

I pray that Zoe is ok, and that the breeders of these other dogs will be found and contacted.

Afer a disagreement some years ago, she rarely if ever kept in touch with us. We would see her from time to time at shows and occassionally Zoe as well. Marion attended an Agility trial in Goshen hosted by the Northwestern Connecticut Dog Club in April this past year I believe. Joe was able to take pictures of Zoe at that time and she was fine. I can't believe that she allowed this to happen. She was a different person 10 years ago.

Yes, Marion USED to have one of my puppies. When she was sold this puppy, she was given a glowing recommendation from some very good friends who had also sold her a dog.

We have since gotten the puppy back, and have had her for a few months. So the puppy wasn't involved in any of this mess.

How tragic for these dogs.. I didn't know this woman either..but from what people have said about her 10 years ago sounds like she was a good person. It's a shame that something happened to her to cause such a decline. I do wonder if it's mental illness.

I hope all of the dogs make a full recovery and find their way back to their breeders or into good homes where they can know love and safety.

How sad. I would think it is a mental or substance abuse issue.

A similiar situation happened a few years ago with a well known Weimaraner breeder. The breeders of her dogs and other Weimaraner people who knew her and her dogs attempted to adopt them once the criminal case was over, however, the Humane Society would not allow them to, fearing that they may end up back with the original owner. Even a breeder of one of her puppies who was a co-owner was denied custody.

Sadly, it sounds like clinical depression. If that is the case, she will need a lot of support. Those who know her or of her, are family relationship (healthy) nearby?! Let’s hope so. I'm sure she didn't intentionally mean any harm to her pets. Let’s hope she and all others in similar conditions are given proper medical supervision for a healthy recover. That’s how we can best ensure all pets welfare.

CLINTON — A court agreement has allowed the town to begin placing 10 purebred Rottweilers, seized by police in early January, in new adoptive homes.


Police took custody of the dogs after finding a dead Rottweiler allegedly hidden in the rented Long Hill Road bedroom of their owner, Marion Lent, 35, and four, 5-month-old Rottweiler puppies confined in one, feces-covered crate.


In previous visits to the property, Municipal Animal Control Officer Donna Cavanaugh said she found adult Rottweilers closed in the plastic crates used for transporting dogs, in equally unsanitary conditions.

Cavanaugh then received a telephone call from Lent’s landlord, saying Lent had hidden the dead dog in her room. An autopsy determined that the dog weighed just 52 pounds — about half the typical weight of an adult Rottweiler — and died of pneumonia, Cavanaugh said.

Lent was charged with 11 counts of cruelty to animals, and the town subsequently began court proceedings to take legal custody of the dogs, as well as secure a court order for reimbursement of the expense of their care.

With that civil action pending, Town Attorney James Spallone advised Cavanaugh that Lent had agreed to voluntarily surrender ownership of the dogs to the town. Spallone indicated that Lent’s willingness to do so arose from plea negotiations for the criminal charges she faces.

The agreement resulted in a court order transferring ownership of the dogs, and directing Lent to repay the town $3,750 in costs incurred in their care.

Cavanaugh, who received more than 100 inquiries about the surviving Rottweilers after Lent’s arrest, said the four puppies were placed in new homes as soon as possible after the court order.

Two of the adults also have been adopted, and Cavanaugh said she has four adult females, ranging in age from 11 months to 6 years, still awaiting new homes.

Cavanaugh said she has been selecting new homes for the dogs from 15 individuals who have completed adoption applications describing their ability to care for the dogs. New applications will be accepted at the Police Department, she said, "from people without children and no dogs of their own."

Lent, who could not be reached for comment, is scheduled to return to court March 23 on the pending criminal charges, Cavanaugh said.

Hey everybody I hate to burst the bubble, but you cant belive everything you hear and read. I'm best friends with the family and still am after this. Rene Zoe is all good and weighs abut 90 ilbs, ahe is still loves to play with here ball. This is straight from the family the dog that died caught something when he was at the kennel. Also early in this post I read that the owner of the house said he never knew how many dogs there where well he lied because he met almost everyone of them.
