| To go with the shot rottweiler story! We had a similar situation in Vancouver, but different in one aspect. A boy (17) and his rotti were standing on thier front steps watching something going on down the road involving the police. The boy and his dog were walking down the steps to get a better look, and a cop who just joined the scene got out of his car and shot the dog. The dog was simply walking beside his owner. I just went looking for this news story, but it happened just before Christmas, and I can't find it. The cops admitted the dog was shot without justification...(the dog died) and the Vancouver Police ended up buying the boy a new dog, but that doesn't change the fact that the cop shot a rotti simply because it was there. It didn't charge the cop, it didn't growl, nothing, no provokation! THIS is where I say, if it were any other dog (besides a pitbull) it would still be alive today! P.s. (Sorry to start a new thread, but I didn't want to hijak lavenderotts!)

| Re: To go with the shot rottweiler story! I believe it. I sure hope they let the kid pick out his pup! I must say, had this happened to my dog, somebody would owe me some serious cash. Chase can never be replaced and the emotional trauma to whoever in my family was standing next to her, would be great. And someone had better lose their badge. I am not anti-police. I know a lot of wonderful people who are police officers. I have also met a couple who are on a power trip because they carry a badge and a gun.
