Another Rottweiler Attack

Another black mark on our breed and this time it's in my area. I got the call last night.

An older lady who knows I own Rottweilers called to tell me her son (an irrigation ditch rider) came upon 2 dogs attacking an 8 year old little girl. On the phone with 911 and shovel in hand he tried beating the dogs off the girl, with not much success.

The girl, whom he thought would not make it, was taken by Ambulance to nearest trauma center. The attack happened on Rd 82 and I live on Rd 52....my dogs are inside right now, worried that they may be poisened, or even shot.

I believe I know who's dogs may be responsible for this terrible, terrible ordeal. Last summer I saw one of this guys dogs out on the road in front of his home, I stopped (unaware he has about 5 or more) and was about ready to get out and put the dog inside the fence when 2 large males jumped the fence and pounced my car. Yes, on the hood of my car they growled challenging me to get on out. I laid on the horn, they didn't move. I ended up starting to drive off with two very pissed off Rotties on the hood of my car The sign on the front of the gate reads "Warning. Can you make it to the fence in 30 seconds, because I know my dogs can" They live on road 82. I don't know of any other Rottweilers on 82, but I could be wrong.

I watched the news (flipping back and forth between each local channels) trying to find out how the girl is doing. Nothing. Nothing in the paper. Isn't that amazing. I'm on my way down to the coffee shop to find out if they know anything. I've just got to find out how that girl is.

So today, I ask that you say a big prayer for her, in hopes of a speedy recovery. May God grant my special wish that this child be in the hands of her earthly family, for a long time. Please, everyone, say a prayer for this family. Thank you, Lora Lee

Well, just got back from the coffee shop and found out the owner (the one who I thought) is in jail on a $350,000.00 bail or bond (I don't know the difference). He was arrested Sunday evening after the attack. Neighbors lined the streets, as patrol cars and unmarked officers seized the grounds.

No word on how the girl is.

I drove by his house, his sign reads "Warning, I can make it to the fence in 3 seconds, can you?" There are no dogs in his yard anymore. I guess they could be inside, but...?? Strange to see his yard empty.

The lady at the coffee shop said this guy's family is so powerful (politically) we won't see anyting on the news or the paper. He's been in trouble before with his dogs and has one other bite on record, yet nothing was ever done.

I'm going to call the hospital, and send anoumous flowers to the family and girl. Hopefully, I can get some information on how she is.

Well, I've been able to find out that the humane society has all 5 of his dogs. Only one dog is responsible for the attack, the other that was out did not bite, but stood and barked.

Glad to hear ALL dogs were taken and that all are still alive.

This is the kind of story that gives Rotties a bad name. Why was this dog--being so aggressive--outside? Did the owner not properly secure the dog so he was able to get out? What would cause the dog to be so aggresive? Any news on how the little girl is doing?

Still no news on how the girl is doing :(

I did find out one of his dogs has a confirmed bite on his record, at that the neighbors have called on several occasions to have the dogs taken away. The neighbors even started a petition in attempt to have the dogs taken. The owner put up hot-fence around his property to help keep his dogs in, with regard to the petition.

Just makes me MAD!

That is such a sad story. I hope the little girl will have a complete recovery-so awful that this had to happen to her. :( Another case of someone owning Rotties that should not. :(
