update(?) on the landfill dog. Latest on the live dog in the landfill. The latest is ... Nothing. I called the Dallas Police dept. today and was again told that this case is still under investigation. They could be done in days or in months. I spoke to a detective in the Public Integrity section. They are investigating the conduct of the Sanitation Dept., since it was one of their employees who actually threw the dog in the landfill. When the Public Integrity finishes their investigation they will send the results to the D.A. and the Sanitation dept. It will be up to the Sanitation Dept. to release the findings, if they wish to do so. I also spoke to an assistant of Mayor Laura Miller. She told me that Ms.Miller had been out of town and would be requesting an update on this case tomorrow. The Humane Society of Greater Dallas is not investigating, as a matter of fact, their Chief Investigator resigned over this. Apparently the president of this chapter and the man in charge at Dallas Animal control are very good buds. I feel as if I'm beating my head against a brick wall !! The wall of city goverment, I guess. For everyone who has been e-mailing- thank you. I'm still e-mailing and calling and hope that ya'll will too ! The info office at the Dallas P.D is piodpd@bigtex.ci.dallas.tx.us Mayor Millers e-mail is lamiller@mail.ci.dallas.tx.us I really feel that they just want everyone to forget about this, and I don't want that to happen. I'm going to call the Regional Humane Society office tomorrow , and the D.A's office. To check out all the updates that ex-HS investigator Dee Stephens has posted, go to www.rckrotts.com/mariah.html And again, Thank you everyone and please don't stop questioning and e-mailing !!

Meli, Thank you for all of your hard work and persistence. I found out that Dee Stephens resigned two weeks ago, and I was disheartened about the case after that. It seems that she was the heart and soul of this case. It's interesting to hear that the head of the Dallas area Humane Society and the person in charge of Dallas' Animal Control Dept. are good friends. I think you're right in taking this to the next level. I'm sure that this relationship had something to do with Dee's resignation. Give us an email for the regional Humane Society with a contact name, so we can email him/her as well to encourage further investigation of this matter. As far as the cover-up is concerned, I think it looks like they're going to try to make some poor sanitation employee the scapegoat of the entire ordeal. We need to get someone in the media behind us on this story, in addition to someone higher up in the Humane Society's chain of command. Mark

The Regional HS has nothing to do with the different chapters. They tell me they are all independent, under one heading, but no one has authority over another group.

You've got to be kidding?!!! OK, so let's take this a little bit further. How about an SPCA? Is there one in the Dallas area? If not, let's contact PETA! I know they're a bit militant, but if we keep running into roadblocks, "damn the torpedoes," let's ramn them with what we've got!!!!
