Henrico County, VA. should have seized this dog!

I have to relate a story to you that just happened in
Henrico County, Va. where a dog was neglected to the
point that it could not even get up and walk. The police
were called, & they were so appalled that they called an animal
"protection" officer out to the scene. To the dismay of all
the citizens around the APO "let" the owner take the dog to
VEC. (emergency center) And if you know anything about VEC
they only care whether or not you have a credit card. Because
if you don't, your animal will not be seen. But to get the real

The stains seen on the basement floor are bodily fluids coming
out of the dog. The odor coming from the dog was appalling.
Please go see where the county lets everyday owners off the
hook, but the state vet wants to monitor rescues every move.
We need to write letters to the editor of every newspaper in
the state of Va. We need to be heard...the counties and cities in
Va. need to clean up everyday messes and then we rescuers
wouldn't have as much to do! Thanks for your attention on this one.

This is the Senator that sponsored the SB260 bill here in VA. He needs to know that rescuers are not the ones that need to be monitored. It's the average owner out there who half steps when it comes to taking care of their animals. When Va. cleans that mess up then rescuers won't have as much to do. You can relate the story of the rottie mix to him if you like. I'm going to try and get an appt. with the Sgt. in charge of the shelter. Let's see if he can change this and get that dog out of the owners care and file neglect charges against the owner. And if he doesn't see it that way, then I'll go to his boss.

This is just terrible. Really terrible. Will you be sending the digital pictures to all the local newspapers with the information you included above? How about the local news stations? It needs to get out there BIG time so this poor creature can get the life he deserves. Do you have an email address? Writing from Philly may not carry weight as I don't vote in VA. Email is less telling in terms of my location. Oh that poor boy. His eyes are hopeless.

We are and have been writing to all the stations, and I did speak to Sgt. Dowdy of the animal shelter. Of course he did defend the APO who handled the case. I am going higher with this.

Beth, yes the dog is still in the owners care. But my webmasters wife did go to the magistrate and after viewing the pictures he let her file charges against the man. As of today he has not been arrested. Sad thing is the man told me and 2 others that were standing there that this happens to the dog every year! If you want to then write to the state vets office and complain... AND also to the County Manager. Also, you can write to Attorney General Kilgore. They need to be bombarded with letters. Too much animal neglect and abuse goes on in VA and nothing is done unless the dogs die or are dying, in which case they have to be euthanized. Here are the email address's:
