WISCONSIN: Victims mother does not blame the dogs or breed Todays milwaukee journal has an update story on the death of a 10 year old girl. In the story the girls mother is quoted "I don't blame it on the dogs; I don't blame it on the breed. I blame it on the owners," Unfortunatly it was near the end of the story but maybe it will stop the media fire storm against rotts. Just thought this was worth sharing

This has got to be one of the worst stories I have read about dogs mauling a child. So sad that Rotts were involved. We have people to thank for that... Sandi

I agree that this is the worst one yet. That poor family:( Someone needs to be charged for sure. The only way they are going to get people to be responsible for their dogs is to hold them responsible for the dogs. Just sweeping it under the rug adds to everyones problem.

I just read the update on this. Yes, it is very very sad. I read in one part of this that the girls were having a sandwich. It could be that with so many dogs in the house that one may have tried to get the sandwich from her and one or more of the others wanted it also and a food fight got started and the little girl was in the middle of it. Just my opinion. We will never really know unless the little friend tells her story. Also, I am wondering how many of you have noticed how many times Rottweiler was mentioned. It seems the reporter JUST HAD to mention Rottweiler whenever dogs were mentioned. I have noticed that in many dog attack articles if the breed is a Rottweiler, Pit Bull, etc. the breed is mentioned. However, in attacks by other breeds it is not mentioned! I am waiting to see how this will turn out. Those BAD owners(?) should be dealt with accordingly.

What gets me is how the owners of the dogs have handled this whole situation. They seem so worried about themselves, but they haven't bothered to offer an apology yet?!!! They didn't even attend the little girls funeral??? I just don't get it. I would feel sooo horrible and I would do EVERYTHING in my power to show I was sorry! When someone apologizes after they have done something wrong, it at least closes some of the hurt. It helps to heal. I don't believe one can ever heal completely from such a horrible thing, but showing them you're sorry will sure help. Maybe they will, and I hope they do! better late then never, right?! :(

This is so very sad I was reading the article and my heart just dropped.I am nearly without thoughts but the first thing that does come to mind is there has to be criminal charges for the death of the girl the neglect and abuse of the dogs and for endangering thier own childs life.I love my two rotts more than words can say but if I came home to find they mauled and killed some child the police wouldn't have to worry about taking the dogs they would be able to carry out the carcasses as I would shoot them on the spot. These people are criminals pure and simple if you started to stockpile explosives in your home then one day while at work it blew up and killed the neighbors you would be in jail and with the conditions these poor dogs lived is was just that a powderkeg waiting to explode unfortunately this little girl was the one it happened to.:(
