Herding Instinct Test (Washington)

Columbia River Rottweiler Club Herding Instinct Test and Fun Day
Where: Ewetopia Herddog Training Roy, Washington
When: October 9th, 2004 8:30AM-3PM

Cost: Pre-entries $25 Day-of Entries $30 (limited to a maximum of 50 total entries--ROTTWEILERS ONLY)

Basic Information:
For the Dogs...
*No previous herding or obedience training necessary
*Testing is done in a safe environment (no long-lines, whips, fiberglass stock sticks or wooden crooks will be used), but those with soft feet can/may tear pads (something to consider if planning to show or trial in the near future)
*Upon evidence of herding instinct each participant will receive a Herding Instinct Certificate with his/her name on it
*Dogs need to wear snug-fitting collars (choke, fur-saver, pinch, leather/fabric buckle) that they can't slip out of easily
*No age minimum or maximum
*There is plenty of water and shade available for dogs as well as an off leash field to run in (for well socialized dogs...dog aggressive dogs are not welcome in the field)
For the humans...
*No age minimum or maximum (the testers do the work anyway :-)
*Don't wear flip-flops, open toed shoes or sandals
*There are covered areas, but please dress for the weather (i.e. bring warm clothes, rain gear, etc)
*There is a soda machine available on site

Hey Becky I'll be bringing my puppy Asa he will be 5 1/2 months. I met the Peddicords through WORK I started bringing Asa to track after Chris suggested awhile back and I'm looking forward to coming out and learning more about herding.

How could I learn more about your club?

Actually the Peddicords have been official members of the now one-year old Columbia River Rottweiler Club longer than I have (AND its actually centered in the Portland area I think...I'm too far away to be a voting member, and the drive down for meetings is nearly impossible for me during the school year ).

Pre-entries are now officially CLOSED...we've got plenty of room at this time for day of entries though, so folks in the Northwest we'd love to see you there! With the assortment of dogs and owners already entered it promises to be an incredibly FUN day for all involved

That's good news I couldn't pre-reg and I was just going to email you to make sure that there would be room for Asa so we didn't make the long ride for nothing. I will see you there. Look forward to meeting you.

I want to thank Becky for all her hard work. We drove about 3 hours from Portland to Roy, WA and it was well worth the trip. My husband and I met alot of really nice people and some very cool dogs. I can't wait to pick up my pictures today. If I didn't get the chance to mention this to you Becky, watching your dog heard those ducks, so carefully and so intentive on your every command was pretty awesome. Watching the two of you together reminds me of what this wonderful breed is really capable of doing.

My husband hasn't stopped talking about Asa him with the sheep. We really had a great time. Becky you are very fortunate to live so close to such a wonderful facility.
