Aik Crosses over

This morning at 6:45 the telephone rang. It was my friend (and co-owner of my dog Aik) Susie.

Aik suffered either a stroke (or had a brain tumor??) and was in grave condition. His vet unfortunately said that allowing to cross over the bridge would be in his best interest.

Aik was a dog that gave his entire heart....to no matter what he was doing.

His accomplishments in the sport of Schutzhund were incredible. It was my honor to train him, work him and love him so very much.

The German Shepherd Dog world is minus one great dog today....and our hearts are so very heavy.

Aik you made me so proud....always. How I'm going to miss you my Bubba-boy. Susie gave you a kiss from me....but only you knew how much you meant to me. I missed you every day that you were with her; even though I know how happy you made her with being there...... We love you Aik.

See you at the Bridge-- I'm sure Vello is very happy to see you again . Have fun---until we meet again.

XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOX Mom and Susie

Aik zum Lahntal, SchH3 FH2 1993-2001
Run fast and Bite Hard Aik......I love you so.

Geez, Annette

I am so sorry to hear this!:(

I hate to hear that one has left us........it is just so hard and does not seem fair!:(

If we had 100 years with our companions it wouldn't seem long enough.

I know that Aik is with all his other four legged friends, looking down at you....watching over you guys.

Hugs.......

Whitney

Annette: I am very sorry to hear about Aik. What a special boy he was. I know he was very proud to have known and loved you also. He is at peace now. Take comfort in that, and he will always be in your heart. My thoughts are with you.

Annette,

I'm sorry to hear about Aik. I know how heavy your and Susie's hearts are right now.

You were so much strength to me with Delia, I'm here for you too.

You're in my thoughts and prayers during this time.

Kathy

Thank you. I know you all know just how I'm feeling right now :(

I'm just numb. Broken hearted too. :(

Flood of memories are coming to the forefront and they really are a great comfort....even now.

Aik was a great partner. I wouldn't have wished for another dog to do what we did together in the sport. Traveling Europe with him was a blast.....and I think he disliked Budapest as much as I did... LOL

I don't have many pictures left (long story--but my ex-husband didn't cherish the photo albums of the dogs as much as I did...) but I can see every picture like it was being taken.

This is the 100 Year Anniversary of the German Shepherd Dog. Captain Max von Stephanitz said before his death "Take this time for me. Make sure my Shepherd Dog remains a working dog, for I have struggled all my life for that aim."

Well he sure must be proud of Aik. He was exactly what Max had in mind when he created the breed.

It's really funny how life is. Right before the terrorist attacks; Susie and I were making plans for Aik to come back to NY with me. She said she was tired of replacing answering machines...because whenever I would leave a message on it...he would take it apart trying to get me "out". lol

Of course, she would replace an answering machine everyday if it meant that we still would have our boy around to destroy it.

I still haven't "told" Aika--- :( How do you tell someone their Dad is gone? Even a dog. She knows something is up.....but so do all the dogs. Elke superglued herself to my leg....Apollo is just starring at me (so I had to put him in the crate....was making me nuts) and Aika....well she just kinda cocks her head like "Come on....what's up Mom?"

Sad day. Very, very sad day :(

Hey Christopher......I guess I can't let you work my boy now :( :( You would have loved him.

It is so hard for me to come to this part of the forum since losing Bear. For some reason I felt the need to come here today to see if anyone needed some support.

WD, I am so sorry for your loss. You are in my thoughts. Take care and God Bless. Maybe Aik and Bear are playing together.

I'm so sorry. Why is it that our canine friends live such short lives?
