brutus

in may of last year ,i woke up and foynd brutus eye sunken in his socket. i took him to vet , vet gave me cream to rub on his eye . well about 1-2 weeks later was brushing him and his forehead was atrophied. i took him to vet . vet gave name of spcialist. itook him to specialist . the specialist told me that he wanted to give him an mri and if nothing found than give him a spinalm tap total cost for that visit 4500..00 dollars . i said to the vet if my heater was not working in my car than would i replace the whole heater . i asked the vet if these tests would tell me whats wrong . he said they might or might not.m well i sadi , than thats why i asked about the heater , why not put him on specific meds. he agreed and gave him prednizone . brutus was fine all summer. than in late september he was having siezures. one sunday in oct he had 4 siezures in a ror . i took him to animal hospital at animal welfare. they kept him and he was improving . than 4 days later animal welfare called to tell me he passed away over night. i had him cremated . i miss him so much. i sometime read the rainbow bridge band start getting red eyed. brutus was about 7. i rescued him 4 yrs ago from animal welfare. i still had know diagnosis of his condition.

Re: brutus

My Jesse passed with what began as seizures. I've been told that they are usually caused in older dogs by a tumor on/near the brain.

Jesse's seizures started out slow; but by the time we got her to the vet to be PTS she was having them pretty often. I knew once those started it was the end for her. Poor baby, she was lost. Wish I'd had a different sign cause that was heart breaking to watch/experience for her.

Re: brutus

Cromwell too died of a brain tumor in 2004, it still hurts - it always will. But be thankful for the time you had.

Re: brutus

Ceasar also passed last Oct. at 11 of a tumor at his brainstem. He started out with seizures, a month or some longer apart. We medicated using predisone and tramdol at our vets decision. No MRI, since we were not going to do a tramadic surgery on him at 11 only to get the same amount of time. I am very sorry for your loss. God Bless Brutus and he is in very good company with our boys and girls. God Speed Brutus. Debbie Ervin

What a horrible and excruciatingly sad story. Bless you for loving this rescue dog and giving him a wonderful life.
