My Sonny Boy...

Sonny lost his battle with bone cancer 2/19/08, he went peacefully in our arms.. He took his last walk in the sunshine tonight, and went on his own terms..not ours. He must have planned to go on his own, and not when we were ready or wanted him to go... He always did things his way, and tonight was no exception. he was diagnosed 1/31/08, with the xrays showing the cancer was already in his lungs, heart, legs, his entire body...

Words can not express how much he touched our hearts.. He came to us in October 2001 as a birthday present for our gsd Jesse.. He was 6 1/2 years old back then. He spent a month in the shelter before we adopted him, and it has been a wonderful 7 years of love and laughter.. He was always dignified, even with foster puppies hanging off his face. There wasnt a person he didnt like, and he loved everyone.. He was a Certified Therapy Dog for the past 2 years, with my husband taking him to the assisted living facility to cheer up the patients..

Run free at the bridge Sonny Boy... We miss you and love you..

and a huge thanks to Maddie's Mom aka Ackaspado.. she made Sonny a beautiful red fleece blankie, the blankie was with sonny when he passed, as he loved his blankie and was always laying on it..and he wore his favorite collarmania collar too, Thank YOU lisa for making sonnys collars for him..

The house is too quiet now..

Re: My Sonny Boy...

I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved Sonny. I think the Rottie "do it my way" mentality is part of the reason their personalities burn a forever spot in our hearts and lives.

May your bruised heart find comfort in the smiles of your treasured memories soon.
RIP Sonny Boy you've certainly earned a place of honor with all your good deeds.

Re: My Sonny Boy...

I am so very, very sorry for your loss of Sonny.
Sounds like he was a lucky boy to have been a member of your family - or should I say you were the lucky ones to have found him!
I bet he knew he was so loved by you and your family and you have a whole lot of wonderful memories to keep until you can be together again.
RIP Sonny, fly high with the angels. You are in very good company.
