My Diesel is gone

My beloved 10 year old Rott, Diesel died yesterday--Please see my post in the vet's corner--"Seizures, Please Help!"

He had seizures from 3:00am Monday morning until 4:00pm Monday afternoon when we put him down. I wasn't able to get him to a vet until 10:30 in the morning. The nearest vet to me failed to meet us at his clinic although he said he'd meet us there. While I waited on him I called my regular vet--some 20 miles away--and he told me to bring Diesel in ASAP.

The vets weren't sure what was causing the seizures as they happened out of the blue, and Diesel was in perfect health the night before.

They induced a near coma to prevent the twitching/thrashing and later that afternoon I cuddled his head, told him how much he meant to me while his vet induced the deep, eternal sleep.

I miss my boy so much. I adopted him from the humane society when he was 8 years old. He was slated to be euthanized because of his age and because he wasn't aggressive. I took him home and that was the best thing I ever did. He was the first dog I owned as an adult, and my first Rottweiler. He was a sweetheart and a clown. I had him for only two years, and my heart is broken.

Please keep me in your thoughts. I live in a culture where dogs are, well..."just dogs." I desperately need the support of fellow dog lovers.

I am so very sorry for your heartbreaking loss. Diesel was such a lucky dog that you were there for him, took him home, took him into your heart, and loved him unconditionally. All dogs should be so lucky and if only they could!

Bless you for caring about him.

I am so sorry for your loss. Know that you did right by Diesel from beginning to end. You gave him a new life, one full of love and total acceptance; and in the end you gave him eternal peace. He now waits at the Bridge, pain free, content knowing that he has a human who will always love him and will meet him some day.

Re: My Diesel is gone

I am so very, very sorry for your loss of Diesel.
You were there for him when he needed you. Diesel would not have had those two wonderful years of life without your kindness.
I am sure he gave you his unconditional love also.
You did the best you could for Diesel - it was just out of your hands.
Believe me, we know the deep loss you are feeling now. I hope in time you are able to give another dog a great life.
Cherish your memories until you are together again.
RIP Diesel, fly high with the angels. You are in very good company.

I am very sorry for your loss. I work with a native Jamacian and she thinks I am nuts regarding dogs in that I allow them in the house let alone all the other stuff like BOUGHT food etc, so I can relate

Rest in peace Diesel

May you take comfort in knowing that he is no longer suffering and that his life was a happy one because of You and what you did for him.

Diesel, may you rest in peace and run free over the rainbow.

~*sending you hugs*~

Re: My Diesel is gone

Anne, all of us who are blessed to share our lives with dogs know what agony you are suffering at having to part with your precious Diesel. What a lucky dog he was to have such a loving guardian, and how fortunate you have been to have such a faithful friend.

I send you healing thoughts.

Kris

I am so very sorry for your loss of Desiel! You have my thoughts with you and I know how you feel. I have lost 2 boys over the past 4 years. I am sure you meant the world to Desiel also as you saved him and gave him a very good home for 2 years which I know meant a life time to him. RIP Desiel and say I love you to Thor and Ceasar at the Rainbow Bridge from their Mom. Debbie
