Lost 3 in just over a year

I would never had thought I would lose all my babies in just over a year. Zar was my baby boy, he left at an autobody shop and was starved for 12 days. A neighbor brought him to us cause we already had a female rottie and he wanted us to look after him till he found him a home. Well one look at Juno (our female) and Zar fell in love. They were like long lost friends reunited. After my mom passed away we took her dog, a purebred Siberian male husky. Beau had grown up with Juno so there was no problem with her, Zar on the other hand made sure Beau knew who was the alpha but that was OK with Beau as he just wanted friends to play with and people he knew to take care of him.
Zar passed away from cancer in Oct 06. Juno passed away from old age in Sep 07. Beau passed away in Nov 07 from cancer.
My husband and I are not blessed with children but we are ok with that cause we had such great dogs that gave us so much love. Never forgotten but dearly missed everyday.

Re: Lost 3 in just over a year

I know the feeling. I lost my female a little over a year ago (cancer) and my male about 10 months before(cancer). Had the female for 12+ yrs and the male for 10+yrs. Its really hard to deal with sometimes. I ended up getting another male pup after saying never again. Now he is 11 months old and I wouldn't trade him for the world! The funny thing is that he is allways reminding me of my other two. You have to think of all the good times you had with them. Sorry for your loss.

Re: Lost 3 in just over a year

I am so sorry for your loss. I know right now it is really rough and hard to deal with, time will help some. I have lost three in a short period of time the last two years and by the time you get to the third one you think you can't take anymore but somehow you make it through. I have lost three in three months like you and last year we lost three in two months. Two were just two weeks apart, I thought I was going to lose it but I made it through and I am sure you will too. All I can say is if you need the time like I did, just take a day and look at there pictures and try to remember them. It does seem to help a bit. It still is not easy and my thoughts are with you.

I am sorry for your losses. Your dogs were lucky in that they had you and your husband caring for them. Our canine companions just don't live long enough.

I am so sorry. It is heartbreaking every time we have to go thru it. Unfortunately like AngelBunny said they just don't live long enough.

Re: Lost 3 in just over a year

Glad you came here for comfort. So many of us understand what your loss means. Your dogs were so blessed to have you. When the time feels right, I hope you will decide to get more dogs. In the loving memory of those that have gone to the bridge, perhaps you can honor them by giving a home to another. I lost my husband in 04 and two weeks later, his constant companion and my heart dog, followed him. I waited less than a year but decided to honor Sheena's memory by getting another rottie girl. They sure fill up our hearts.

Re: Lost 3 in just over a year

After Juno passed, Beau was really depressed so about a month after we adopted a 4 1/2 yr female rottie (Mica). Beau might have been a husky but he had the heart of a rottie and we always felt he thought he was one. If you called him White dog he would look away from you, then we would say his name and he would look back, then call him white dog and he would look away. It was so cute. About a month and half after Beau passed the rescue shelter called us, they had rescued a 8 month old male rottie and asked if we could foster him as all the foster homes were full. We said yes and well Mica just loves him and so do we, so now he is ours. I have posted there pictures in the gallery. I could not imagine loving without a rottie. I know what I have lost can not be replaced but we have so much love to give to the ones know else wants.

Re: Lost 3 in just over a year

I lost three in less than a year. My God, it hurts so bad. On the bright side, they made your life so much richer for the time they were there. Take that to your heart - they left the world a much better place because they made you a better person. Nurse your wounds then honor their memory by adopting another friend. The first rottie is always the reason for the second rottie. They are a unique breed. I have my Winnie but the time is coming for him to have a buddy! I miss my pack!
