Lost my 5 year boy

I lost my 5 year male to cancer (lymphoma). He was the first dog I ever owned ,not including dogs my parents owned. I could not have asked for a better dog, he was my "little" buddy and went every where with me. Its been 2 weeks now and I still find myself looking over the edge of the couch to see if he's laying there, then I remember and it sucks!

Re: Lost my 5 year boy

Yes it does suck. I looked at the picture and what a handsome boy, he just looks like a sweetheart of a dog. No wonder you miss him so much. He has one of those "kind" faces.
I am so sorry.
I hate reading of dogs who lose a battle for life at such a young age.
You will probably look for him for awhile at times when you wake up. You will think of him forever. I know those memories will make you cry for awhile, but trust me, one day you will laugh when you speak of him and some of the funny things he did to endear himself to you so very much.
I know he had a great life with you. It's a lucky dog that gets to hang out with their owners all the time and are allowed to accompany them everywhere.

Re: Lost my 5 year boy

I am sorry and feel your loss; we lost our 7 year old the day before Thanksgiving so I know just how much it sucks. Like a huge vacuum came in our home and sucked the life out of it. Figuratively and literaly. It will hurt forever but that is, I believe, good; it means that your friend meant something more than just a pet to you. He was part of you and will remain so.

Read the story of Zeus; it was written by a person that actually had a sibling of our rottie, Obsgarten Hannibal Titus. The Rotties were from same parents just different litters. His traits were similar to our guy so reading it was very hard at this juncture to read but it did help. Not that misery loves company but rather that sorrow shared is opening a world of like minded people wishing you the very best memories of a beloved friend to carry you through the lonely times as well. Our kid died in my arms that day on the way to the hospital seeking help once more after 3 weeks of struggle; his courage and stoic attitude never left him. He spared us making the ultimate decision and showed us how life should be lived all the way to the very end. I am certain your friend knew how much you cared throughout his brief but full life. Celebrate those times and say a "thank you" each and every time you think an "Imiss you".

If you read this Nathan, please contact me as well. Would like to share Hannibal's story with you and to hear of his mom, Happiness.

:*( My heart goes out to you... the picture of your boy, he's so handsome. Please be strong in this difficult time. Your boy is at the rainbow bridge running like the wind, playing with all the other dogs... and waiting for the day you meet him there.

Your boy was gorgeous! I am so sorry for your loss. I know the feeling that they are still here with us. I still look to the end of the couch that my old girl layed also. It takes time. I think that is proof to the fact that these dogs are so wonderful and make their way into all of our hearts.

I'm so sorry for the lost of your young guy. It looks so handsome.

Take comfort in knowing he is pain free at the bridge running with our other black and tans that have lost their battle to lymphoma (Snicker 6/04).

I am very sorry for your loss. I lost my 6 year old boy, Nikko, to the same thing just two months ago. We don't cry as often, but the emptiness remains and it still sneaks up on us now and then. Time heals, but the scars remain. Cherish all of the good times you had with your handsome boy.

So sorry for your loss. It will take a lot of time to get over your guy who was so much a part of your life. Right now is the time to grieve.

Re: Lost my 5 year boy

I thank you all for your kind words, it does help. He was a sweetheart, like a big teddy bear to those he knew. He was meant to be mine, from the fact that we shared the same date of birth (Oct. 31 and you know us scorpio's) to an unfortunate accident with one of the other pups that moved me up to first pick. I will miss this dog more than words can say.

Re: Lost my 5 year boy

What a beautiful boy he is! It certainly does suck. I know how you feel I lost my boy in Oct. He was older but at any age the hurt is tremedous. I am sure he was loved very much and he loved you. He will always be with you just now it is not physical. I know it hurts but in time you will treasure the memories and times you two shared together. I am sorry and know he is at the Rainbow Bridge with all our babies and welcomed. Debbie Ervin
